RIGA - The Saeima Citizenship Law Amendments Subcommittee on July 31 unanimously approved amendments to Latvia’s Citizenship Law; the amendments now move forward to be reviewed by the Legal Affairs Committee, reports LETA. The amendments aim to solve dual citizenship problems for Latvian residents residing abroad, and streamline the citizenship process for the children of non-citizens of Latvia.The bill stipulates that nationals residing abroad, citizens of Latvia who were deported or left Latvia as a result of the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany occupations, as well as Latvians ...
