RIGA - Latvia has seen a surge in employment rates of about 2% in just one quarter, by far the largest increase in the EU.
According to data from Eurostat, the EU's official statistics agency, employment in the 3rd quarter was up 2% over the previous quarter and up 0.1% year-on-year. The next largest increase was seen in Lithuania and the UK, both at 0.6%.
Estonia, meanwhile, saw a decrease in employment rates of 0.8%, which was the largest decrease in the EU. Year-on-year the Estonian employment rate has decrease 4.1%.
