Usackas front runner for EU Afghanistan position

VILNIUS - Former Lithuanian Foreign Minister Vygaudas Usackas has been named as a top contender for the post of EU special envoy to Afghanistan.

The European Voice reported that Usackaswas one of six possible candidates for the position and that the nominee would be appointed within a few weeks.

The position will be to coordinate the EU's security and development assistance to Afghanistan.
