Unemployment rate grows in Lithuania: 6800 lost their jobs this week

VILNIUS - From the 15th to the 22nd of October 6800 new unemployed people and 1149 new vacancies were registered in the labor registry office. In the same period the labor registry office has helped 2600 unemployed to obtain employment.

1100 unemployed were involved in the active policy methods of employment promotion, the majority of them were sent to public works and qualification courses.

According to the data on the 22nd of October, 2009, in Lithuania there are 230 800 unemployed, and 1056 open vacancies in the labor registry office.
