FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Latvia will get failing grades due to botched budget cuts
Latvia’s education system was already failing the country; but this “hacking” of salaries will seal the fate of the youngsters to second rate EU citizens for years to come!
The folks doing all the budget “hacking” don’t have a clue how to make a budget and to fix what is fundamentally wrong with Latvia’s government system.

It is really quite simple and somewhat straight forward to do correctly; but, the “hacking” folks are too busy glad handing and patting themselves on the back they couldn’t care for a moment what they are doing to the county’s future.

There are plenty of experts in the world – real serious experts that have done this type of effort before. But for some reason, the local culture refuses to look beyond the end of their nose and see what has been done by others before.

Latvia’s systems are too complex, full of unnecessary steps and waste too much time on the part of the government workers and the government’s clients – the businesses and citizens required to perform all the wasted steps.

It’s called REWORK, Waste & Changes in Mind and it is expensive – very expensive.
It’s no wonder that business is down and taxes are not paid legally when it takes so much effort to work “in the system.” It is so much easier to work “out of the system” or to simply leave the country and work totally outside.

In the long run Latvia and its citizens lose.
Destroy the education system with salary cuts and failure to reform it and you won’t have anyone to fix the system and no one clever enough to work in the defective system either.
Learn from the teachings of experts like Dr. W. Edwards Deming and from his books like “Out of the Crisis.”

Ford Motor Company did and they have survived this current crisis much better than the others. So did Hewlett-Packard Company and the giants of Japan.
Yes, Japan may be in a current down situation; but, their economic fundamentals will recover – while Latvia’s will not without process simplification and improvement from within.
Do a Google Search and do some reading – Success W Edwards Deming
