There’s light at the end of Latvia’s tunnel

From abroad the news about Latvia is apocalyptic.
A Spiegel article said the country’s “on the brink of bankruptcy.†It has entered a “world of bust†according to the BBC.
If you’ve never been there, the impression is that when you arrive the streets will be thronged with beggars, albeit ones dressed in Dolce & Gabbana.
But as I type away on the laptop in the beer garden in Riga’s Dome Square, it’s full of people relaxing and drinking. And they’re not dourly staring ...
