Lithuania pulls out of Iraq

VILNIUS - The last few troops that Lithuania had committed to the U.S.-led international mission Iraqi Freedom have been pulled out.

The four remaining Lithuanian soldiers concluded their service as multinational force staff in Iraq on Tuesday.

Present in the ceremony whereupon Lithuaniansoldiers vacate the multinational force staff in Baghdad, LithuanianArmed Forces Joint Staff Chief, Brigadier-General Algis Vaiceliunas thanked coalition partners, chiefs and Lithuaniansoldiers for cooperation and trust, the Defense Ministry said.

Lithuaniansoldiers have been taking part in the operation in Iraq as of April of 2003. Over 750 soldiers served on the operation over the four years. Lithuaniasent at most 130 soldiers to Iraq in any given point in time in the duration of the mission.
