VILNIUS - Swedish performer Charlotte Perelli and Russian pop singer Dima Bilan will triumph at the Eurovision song contest in Belgrade in May, while Lithuania's Jeronimas Milius will rank 40th among 43 entries, predicted a virtual ballot of Eurovision fans on the Internet portal www.escstats.com.
The Lithuanian weekly magazine Veidas reported that visitors of the website do not expect Milius' ballad Nomads in the Night to qualify for the finals during the May 20-24 event in the Serbian capital.
A German portal www.ogae.de also forecasts the 40th place for Lithuania. The website sees Sweden's Perelli in the high second place.
One of the highest places for the Lithuanian entry - the 9th place - is predicted in the portal www.eurovision2008.org, which has received voters of more than 58,000 visitors. However, merely a few optimistic examples exist.
Eurovision experts and visitors admire vocal skills of Milius who is described as a good-looking hard metal performer with a beautiful voice but say his music is outdated.
After more than a decade of participation in Eurovision, Lithuania achieved the highest success in 2006 when the country's dream team of show stars, LT United, won the highest 6th place.
Last year, 4Fun and Julija Ritcik was 21st among 24 participants.
