Russia’s upper house calls for cutting ties with Estonia

Apr 27, 2007
From wire reports

Russia's Federation Council (upper house of Parliament) on April 27 unanimously passed a resolution to ask President Vladimir Putin to sever diplomatic relations with Estonia, the Russian news agency Interfax reports.

Federation Council Speaker Sergei Mironov said when putting the motion to the vote that "we've had enough of this mocking the dead."

The removal of a Red Army monument from the center of the Estonian capital Tallinn in the early hours of Friday has already been widely condemned by Russian politicians.
