VILNIUS - Parliamentary Speaker Viktoras Muntianas said he would not approve conclusions by the National Security and Defense Committee on the State Security Department's activities unless some changes are made to them after consideration. "If no changes are made to the conclusions, I will definitely not vote for the draft such as it is now," Muntianas said in an interview with the Ziniu Radijas news radio today.
Muntianas said he approved of some of the statements in the conclusions, but considers some of them to be doubtful. "As far as the State Security Department's activities are concerned, without a doubt there are quite serious imperfections, and the committee has established them correctly. I have no doubt about it. But there are some statements which raise serious doubts, in which I see a possibly subjective opinion (...)," the parliamentary speaker said.
Parliament approved the draft conclusions of the National Security and Defense Committee on the State Security Department's activities on Dec. 5.
