Impeached president Rolandas Paksas created controversy this week by admitting that he used a diplomatic passport indicating he is a former president in his recent flight around the world.
Paksas said the document helped him overcome tricky border-crossings in the month-long trip, but his detractors claim that, when impeached from the presidency in 2004, Paksas was stripped of his privileges.
Interior Minister Raimondas Sukys was quoted as saying that such a passport should be granted to a former president who completed his term, though Foreign Ministry officials say the law is unclear on the matter.
