Uspaskich says government should collapse

Apr 11, 2006

VILNIUS 's Labor Party leader Viktor Uspasich said on Tuesday the four-party ruling coalition "has to collapse" after Parliament upheld a no-confidence measure in Speaker Arturas Paulauskas.
"The coalition's life should start anew," Uspaskich told national radio.
Uspaskich, who was fired from his position of economy minister last year amid scandal, said that all Labor Party ministers should resign.
He added that the Labor Party faction, the largest group in the Seimas, would propose appointing Parliamentary Vice-Chairman Vydas Gedvydas of the Labor Party as acting speaker.
