Hockey fans ecstatic over tie

RIGA - Latvia's Olympic ice-hockey team was anything but disappointed by their 3-3 tie with the United States on Feb. 16. In fact, players and fans alike celebrated the score as if they had won. Team favorite Arturs Irbe, who played for the NHL years ago, posted 39 saves to help Latvia tie the United States during its opening game of the Olympic tournament. The stands were filled with 7,851 hockey fans, one third of whom were sporting red-white-red jerseys.
