Latvian unemployment down to 8.4% in February

RIGA - In February 2017, Latvia’s registered unemployment rate has decreased by 0.1 percentage points to 8.4 percent, according to information released by the State Employment Agency.

The lowest unemployment rate was recorded in Riga region where 5.3 percent of the population were out of work at the end of February, while the eastern Latvian province of Latgale reported the highest jobless rate – 18.2 percent. In Kurzeme the unemployment rate was 10.5 percent, in Vidzeme 9.2 percent and in Zemgale 8.5 percent.

In Riga, the unemployment rate was 5.7 percent at the end of February.
