RIGA - If the coalition is expanded, current Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity, JV) would remain in his post, JV politician and Finance Minister Arvils Aseradens told TV3 this morning.

Aseradens has been rumored as a potential PM candidate.

''New Unity's prime minister candidate is Krisjanis Karins,'' Aseradens emphasized.

Aseradens previously said that at least four more negotiations on work to be done and the expansion of the coalition are planned, and they will take place regardless of whether the coalition partners United List (AS) and the National Alliance (NA) come to them or not.

In the opinion of the JV politician, the negotiations on the expansion of the coalition have in some sense activated the work of the government. He denied the statement made earlier by the Speaker of the Saeima, Edvards Smiltens (AS), that the work in the ministries had stopped and "everyone is sitting on their suitcases" waiting for new ministers.

As reported, AS and NA are in no hurry to answer whether they will participate in further discussions between five parties initiated by Prime Minister Karins on a possible expansion of the ruling coalition.

AS and NA did not attend the talks held on Friday, to which five parties were invited, and only JV, the Union of Green and Farmers (ZZS) and the Progressives met for discussions.
