Hansa Group Transforms Mobifer into an International SaaS Business, Targeting Digitalisation of the European Bus Market

Hansa Group’s transport platform Mobifer is undergoing a strategic shift. In the Baltics, the company will continue operating as a marketplace for bus bookings, while simultaneously launching an ambitious expansion into the European market with Mobifer’s SaaS software solution, aimed at digitalising both charter and scheduled transport operations.

To date, Mobifer has been an established platform in Estonia and Latvia, connecting bus operators and customers while making charter transport management simpler and more transparent. The marketplace model has proven successful and will remain the core service format in the Baltics. At the same time, however, international interest in the platform’s software solution has grown, said Neeme Tammis, Chairman of the Management Board of Hansa Group.

He added that, given the strong international potential of Mobifer’s technology, the company has updated its business objectives as well as its international leadership structure.

Scaling Mobifer’s SaaS-Based Technology Internationally

The SaaS (Software as a Service) solution developed by Mobifer for managing charter and scheduled transport enables bus companies to operate without developing their own software. The solution supports order management, route planning, workforce and logistics optimisation, and helps reduce operational costs.

According to Tammis, demand for such a solution in the European bus market is significant, as in many countries charter and bus transport operations are still managed through fragmented systems or manual processes, which are both time-consuming and costly.

To accelerate international growth, Hansa Group has established a technology company, HansaTech, through which Mobifer’s new software solution will be introduced to the European market. In the longer term, the goal is to expand into additional international markets.

“Today, we can say that our first target countries will certainly include the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, as well as Spain and Portugal, where our solution shows strong potential and has already attracted initial market interest,” said Tammis, while not ruling out further expansion into other European countries.

Alongside the company’s increasing internationalisation, changes are also taking place in its management structure. Current CEO Cinzia Siig will step back from day-to-day leadership while remaining involved in the company’s next phase of development.
Until a new CEO is appointed, Hansa Group CEO Rait Randrüüt will temporarily assume leadership of both Mobifer and HansaTech.

“We are actively searching for a new leader with strong international business development and export experience, whose task will be to grow Mobifer’s technology-driven business in Europe and identify new expansion opportunities, with the aim of developing HansaTech into a leading international SaaS company in its field. This is an opportunity to build a globally scalable technology company from the Baltics in a sector where digitalisation is only beginning to gain momentum,” said Neeme Tammis, Chairman of the Management Board of Hansa Group.
