VILNIUS - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will visit Lithuania on Monday.
Her trip, which begins on Friday, will include stops in seven EU member states that share borders with non-EU countries.
In Lithuania, von der Leyen will meet with President Gitanas Nauseda and visit the border with Belarus, according to her official schedule.
On Friday, she will travel to Latvia and Finland, followed by visits to Estonia on Saturday and to Poland and Bulgaria on Sunday. On Monday, in addition to Lithuania, she will visit Romania.
The visit is intended to show the EU's support for member states as they bolster their national defense and increase defense spending to protect themselves against potential Russian aggression.
