Edge Autonomy opens a major manufacturing facility in Riga – operations in Latvia double in scale

The international uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) manufacturer Edge Autonomy officially inaugurated a new 10 000 m² production facility in Riga on June 5, marking a significant expansion of its operations in Latvia. The facility currently employs 270 staff, with expectations for that number to grow in the near future. The new facility represents a major step in the company’s long-term growth strategy, reinforcing its position both in the region and on the global market.

Edge Autonomy is in an active growth phase, continuing to expand its engineering, design, and manufacturing capabilities in Latvia and around the world. Demand for the company’s autonomous systems, advanced optics, and resilient energy solutions is high and continues to grow, making the new facility a key driver of sustainable growth and innovation.

“We have had a presence in Latvia for more than 15 years now, and we are committed to the region and the relationships we have built in Latvia, the Baltics, and the European Union as a whole,” said Steve Adlich, CEO of Edge Autonomy. “This is a strategic site for us, not only because Latvia has long been our valued partner, but also because we are located close to many of the customers and programs we serve. I am always impressed with the highly technical workforce in Latvia and the cutting-edge technology coming from this region. We are looking forward to continued growth as we move forward.”

"Latvia is becoming a hub for drone technology. This is our present reality. I believe that modern warfare is unimaginable without drones. We must defend Latvia using the most advanced solutions, which is why we are investing – and will continue to invest -in drone infrastructure. I am pleased to see companies like “Edge Autonomy” expanding their operations in Latvia. As a government, we have worked strategically to build infrastructure where developers can collaborate with the armed forces, border guards, and police to create competitive products," said Prime Minister Evika Siliņa.

Previously, the company’s production space covered 5,400 m², and the new facility nearly doubles that capacity. This expansion will significantly boost manufacturing output, enable the fulfillment of larger order volumes, and create new jobs.
