Driver of Bolt Drive car dies in crash in Riga city center

RIGA - A man driving a car of Bolt Drive car-sharing service died in a road accident in the center of Riga on Sunday evening, the State Police informed LETA.

Around 22:19, at the intersection of Krisjana Valdemara Street and Kalpaka Boulevard, Peugeot, Lexus and Audi cars crashed.

The driver of the Peugeot was killed and two persons were taken to a hospital. Criminal proceedings have been opened.

The State Fire and Rescue Service told LETA that the rescuers had to use hydraulic tools to free the deceased person.

According to the preliminary information available to the police, the driver of the Peugeot most probably did not choose the appropriate driving speed and drove into the opposite lane.

A total of 84 road traffic accidents were registered in Latvia on Sunday, and 13 people sustained injuries.

The victims included three cyclists, two electric scooter drivers and one pedestrian.
