Cooperation prospects in focus of Latvia's first political consultations with Trinidad and Tobago

RIGA - The first ever political consultations between the delegations of Latvia and Trinidad and Tobago focused on ways to strengthen cooperation in international organizations, with officials expressing interest in developing bilateral cooperation in education, culture and and new technologies, LETA was told at the Latvian Foreign Ministry. 

Latvia's first political consultations with the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago were held under the leadership of Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andzejs Vilumsons  on Thursday and  Friday, June 15 and 16. 

Vilumsons thanked Trinidad and Tobago for support on the principles of the UN Charter and Ukraine's territorial integrity. During the meeting, the current situation in the Caribbean region was discussed.

During the visit, the Latvian delegation met also with with the deputy head of the European Union delegation in Trinidad and Tobago, representatives of the UN mission and resident ambassadors of the EU member states, and also visited the headquarters of the Association of Caribbean States.

The Latvian delegation was received by Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly the Honorable Farley Chavez Augustine, with whom historical ties and opportunities for further cooperation in culture and education were discussed.
