Ambassadors of 4 countries present credentials to Estonian president

TALLINN – Estonian President Alar Karis received the credentials of Ambassador of France Emmanuel Mignot, Ambassador of Mexico Enrique Rojo Stein, Ambassador of Bangladesh A.K.M. Shahidul Karim and Ambassador of Bahrain Abdulla Abdullatif Abdulla in Kadriorg on Tuesday.

Accepting the credentials, Karis spoke with the ambassadors about increasing bilateral relations between their countries and Estonia in the field of economic and trade ties and digital cooperation. At the meeting with the French ambassador, the head of state pointed out close defense cooperation, which Estonia values very highly.

The situation in Ukraine and the global effects of Russia's war of aggression were also one of the main topics discussed at the meetings of the head of state.

"Russia's aggression is not just a European problem -- it has direct and long-term negative consequences for the entire rules-based international order," Karis said.

He confirmed that Estonia will not tire of supporting Ukraine and is already helping Ukrainians in the reconstruction of the country.

Cooperation in international organizations, the impact of climate change and problems related to the environment as well as the need to diversify energy sources were also discussed.

The French ambassador resides in Tallinn and the ambassador of Mexico in Helsinki, Finland. The ambassadors of Bangladesh and Bahrain reside in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Berlin, Germany, respectively.
