The COOP FIS Cross-Country World Cup sprint track at the iconic Song Festival Grounds now welcomes skiers as part of Tallinn's European Capital of Sport 2025 program. The Estonian Ski Association and Tallinn City have created a unique opportunity for ski enthusiasts to practice on the course where the world's elite sprinters will compete in March.
"January is dedicated to skiing sports in our Capital of Sport year, which is why we opened the track early," explains Vahur Leemets, head of the World Cup organizing committee. "While the current version is shorter and more accessible than the final World Cup configuration, we're ready to expand it to full length when weather conditions permit," says Leemets.
On January 22, one of Europe's first fully electric SNOW CAT vehicles arrived from Austria specifically for track maintenance. This innovative machine from Xelom, a TechnoAlpin subsidiary, marks a new era in environmentally friendly winter sports – zero emissions, low noise levels, and powerful performance enable quality track maintenance even during evening hours without disturbing local residents.
"The Song Festival Grounds has room for all winter sports enthusiasts, with dedicated areas for different activities," explains Leemets. "We encourage everyone to respect these designated spaces – sledders have their slope, and skiers have their track, ensuring safe and enjoyable winter activities for all."
The ski track remains open to the public until mid-March, leading up to the COOP FIS Cross-Country World Cup sprint on March 19. Tickets are available through Piletitasku. 100 VIP tickets have just been released, with the first 50 at a special price of €150. VIP tickets include access to an exclusive area alongside the track with premium viewing and catering. 25 VIP tickets also include parking (€15 additional fee), with VIP parking and entrance located at the Oru Gate side.
