RIGA - Working hours of services and events that are held in the so-called "green regime" with Covid-19 certificates can be extended until 23:00 from the current 21:00, according to the government's decision.

Also, the requirement to separate flows of families with children who do not have a certificate proving vaccination or recovery from Covid-19  in the epidemiologically safe environment has been lifted. These amendments refer to services and events with personalized seating arrangement.

Also, the number of people allowed at one table in public catering has been increased to ten - four adults and six children, allowing big households to sit at one table.

The Health Ministry said that it is necessary to ease epidemiological restrictions that leave a negative impact on the national economy, causing loss to businesses, but, on the other hand, one should be aware of increased people mobility and contacts during the holiday season. Besides, the new omicron strain has started spreading in Europe and two cases have been detected also in Latvia.

As reported, the state of emergency has been declared in Latvia until January 11, 2022, due to another Covid-19 outbreak.
