TALLINN - In West-Viru County, Estonia, a 65-year-old woman was fatally injured in a tractor accident on Monday morning.
At 11:09 a.m., the Emergency Response Center was notified of an accident in the Muuga village, Vinni rural municipality, where a 52-year-old man, while operating a tractor, struck a 65-year-old woman, causing severe injuries that proved to be fatal at the scene, spokespeople for the East Prefecture told BNS.
Officer Argo Vahula from the Rakvere police station said that the accident occurred in a yard between barns.
"The tractor driver, engaged in work and obstructed by the mounted equipment, failed to notice the pedestrian moving in front of the tractor, and struck the 65-year-old woman, who died on the spot from her injuries. The tractor driver was sober and had a valid driving license," Vahula said.
The police have initiated a criminal investigation to determine the circumstances of the accident.
