RIGA - The Riga City Court on Wednesday sentenced pro-Kremlin activist Polina Kamlova from Rezekne to six years in prison for funding the Russian military, LETA learned.

The woman was tried for transferring approximately EUR 43 for the purchase of drone-jamming equipment to be handed over to the Russian military.

In addition to the six-year prison sentence, she was placed on probation for three years. The court counted the time she spent in custody and detention in her sentence. Taking this into account, the remaining length of the sentence to be served is five years, one month, and 25 days.

The court left the imposed security measure - detention - unchanged until the ruling takes effect.

Kamlova may still appeal the ruling to the Riga Regional Court.

Without naming the individual, the prosecutor’s office previously told LETA that criminal charges were brought against an individual for committing a criminal offense under the section of the Criminal Law regarding the financing of an armed conflict.

The State Security Service (VDD) investigated the case before it was referred to the prosecutor’s office. VDD’s investigation revealed that in December 2024, Kamlova responded to a request from a contact person in Russia to provide funds for the purchase of drone-jamming equipment for Russian soldiers on the front lines in Ukraine.

Since it is not possible to make a transfer from a Latvian financial institution to a Russian financial institution, Kamlova turned to an acquaintance in Belarus. Thus, acting on the defendant’s request and unaware of the true purpose of the payment, she made a payment of 157 Belarusian rubles (approximately EUR 42.86) from her private bank account at a Belarusian financial institution to the bank account of Kamlova’s acquaintance at a Russian financial institution.

VDD initiated criminal proceedings against her on November 25, 2025.

The Criminal Law provides for punishment for the financing of an armed conflict with imprisonment for up to ten years and probation supervision for up to three years. Kamlova is currently in custody.

VDD detained Kamlova on December 2, 2025, and conducted searches at two locations associated with her in Rezekne and Preili Municipality.
