RIGA - In the current situation, we should talk less about restrictions, but more about protection measures, including booster shots, use of medical masks or respirators when speaking about Covid-19, said Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity) at the government meeting on Tuesday.
He said that a campaign should be organized based to inform people that booster shots can be received as early as three months after the base vaccination process is completed.
In relation to masks, the prime minister asked the present health experts and government members whether better guidelines should not be defined in this area, namely allowing only medical masks and respirators and banning cloth masks. He said this might affect the economy less that decisions to "close down the economy" which is the final step to be made is incidence is high.
The government decided to agree on further steps in relation to epidemiological regulations during the first week of January, said Health Minister Daniels Pavluts (For Development/For).
