On Thursday, September 20, lawmakers failed to adopt amendments to the Law on Waste Management due to a lack of votes since the opposition and part of the ruling Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union did not take part in the voting and some “farmers” voted against or abstained. The amendments would ban the construction of such facilities closer than 20 kilometres from residential areas.
