RIGA - The war in Ukraine reminds of the importance of the development of technologies, especially drones, cyber security, as well as the involvement of the civilian sector, Prime Minister Evika Silina (New Unity) said at the opening of the NATO German-Netherlands Corps Conference on Wednesday.

"We are also consciously investing in military industry and innovation, strengthening Latvia's economy," said Silina, stressing that Latvia, together with its allies, is strengthening security throughout the region.

The German-Netherlands Corps is one of NATO's High Readiness Force headquarters. The headquarters is capable of commanding up to 60,000 troops for any mission at short notice, including land, sea and air elements ready to move quickly to any location where needed, according to publicly available information. All NATO ground forces in Latvia and Estonia will now be under German-Netherlands command.
