RIGA - The Baltic states should not panic about a possible Russian invasion, but it is clear that we live next to an aggressive and unreliable neighbor that continues to militarize and question the inviolability of national borders, Latvian Ambassador to Ukraine Andrejs Pildegovics said in an interview with LETA.

Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Ukrainian president's administration and former head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, had previously stated that Russia was preparing to invade the Baltic states.

Pildegovics believes that Budanov's words should be taken seriously in order to be prepared for crisis situations. "We all know about Russian drone attacks on various European countries, including damaged cables in the Baltic Sea," said the ambassador.

At the same time, he stressed that these threats should not be seen as inevitable and unavoidable. "Of course, Budanov also targeted European leaders to send a message that Russia's threats to Europe will increase if Ukraine is defeated," said Pildegovics.

He added that, living on the border with Russia, people must be vigilant and the whole of society must think about security.
