Vilnius Airport resumes operations after no dangerous objects found

VILNIUS - Vilnius International Airport, which temporarily suspended operations at around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, resumed them approximately half an hour later.

Traffic was suspended due to an unidentified object detected on radars but no dangerous objects were found after scrambling NATO fighter jets, the National Crisis Management Center reported.

"No dangerous objects were found. The fighter jets (of the NATO Air Defense Mission) are returning to the air base. Risks were properly assessed and no alerts were issued to residents," Darius Buta, spokesman for the National Crisis Management Center, said.

Earlier, he confirmed that airport operations had resumed, and that flights had been suspended due to the activities of fighter jets from the NATO Air Defense Mission in identifying signals from an unidentified object seen on radars.

The Vilnius Airport website states that a flight from Catania, Italy, was canceled on Tuesday - the Wizz Air plane was scheduled to land at 12:25 p.m.
