Ventspils loses first-leg FIBA Champions League qualifier

SZOMBATHELY (Hungary) - In a first-leg qualifier for this season's FIBA Champions League tournament, Latvian basketball club Ventspils last night lost to Hungarian basketball club Szombathely Falco 69:75.

Wes Washpun led the way for the Latvian club with 21 points, six rebounds and four steals.

The second-leg match will be played in Ventspils next week. The winner on aggregate will qualify for the tournament's group stage.
