BeActive Beach Games open for submissions

Applications for participation in the most sporting event of the summer – BeActive Beach Games, which will be held from July 23 to 24 in Ventspils, are now open. To take part in competitions and the European Family Cup, please register at www.pludmalesspeles.lv. However, even without prior registration, everyone will be able to take part in most sports games and try their hand at sports, just by coming directly to the venue.  

The opening of BeActive Beach Games, followed by a Zumba warm-up workout, will take place on July 23 at 11:00. After that, until 17:00, teams and individual participants will be able to try a number of sports events. The program includes various competitions, the opportunity to try sports under the guidance of specialists, demonstrations and entertainment events, which will continue on the second day, July 24.

Whereas at the BeActive Beach Games European Family Cup, families will compete for valuable prizes – flight vouchers worth 600 EUR, 800 EUR or 1000 EUR. Throughout the day, families will be able to complete a variety of tasks and a closing relay to test their team spirit, dexterity, knowledge and ingenuity. Besides, it will be possible to compete with families from Ireland, Denmark, Lithuania, France, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Poland. To enter a family competition, the team must have two adults and at least two children between the ages of 7 and 15. The European Family Cup will take place on the first day, July 23. 

“We encourage everyone to do sports not only at BeActive Beach Games and the European Family Cup, but also throughout the year. Not only is sport important for your health, it can be a great way to strengthen family bonds, make new friends or find a common language for different generations. Everyone is welcome on our game days, regardless of the level of physical fitness,” encouraged the organizer of the games, Einars Fogelis, President of the Latvian Sports Federations Council (LSFP).

BeActive Beach Games will take place on the Blue Flag beach in Ventspils, in the green area next to the Ventspils beach, and in the Anchor Park. On the day of the games, applications will also be accepted at the competition venue without prior registration (at the Games Information Centre). If the number of pre-registered participants is reached, registration for certain disciplines and activities on the day of the game may be limited. Therefore, we invite you to submit timely applications for participation in beach games and specific activities at www.pludmalesspeles.lv.

BeActive Beach Games are designed to find new ways to attract people, regardless of age, health, fitness or skills, to an active lifestyle on beaches – both natural and artificially created, for example, in the urban environment. The sports games model has been created within the framework of the Erasmus+ project by the Latvian Sports Federations Council in cooperation with other European and international sports organizations. This year, families and representatives of sports organizations from nearly ten other European countries come to Ventspils for beach sports games to expand the movement of beach sports in their countries.
