Two-thirds of citizens believe Latvia is moving in the wrong direction

RIGA - Almost two thirds or 63 percent of citizens believe that things in Latvia are moving in the wrong direction, according to a Eurobarometer survey conducted from February 12 to March 18.

Meanwhile, about a third or 37 percent of respondents believe that things in Latvia are moving in the right direction.

Eurobarometer data show that European views are stable on this issue. Just as in autumn 2020, also at the beginning of 2021 about a third or 36 percent of Europeans believe that things are going in the right direction in their countries, and 54 percent say that things are going in the wrong direction in their countries.

Meanwhile, almost two thirds or 64 percent of Latvian citizens and 42 percent of Europeans believe that things are moving in the right direction in the EU, while about a third or 36 percent of Latvian citizens and 43 percent of Europeans believe that things in the EU are moving in the wrong direction.

At the same time, 52 percent of Latvian citizens and 42 percent of Europeans believe that things in the United States are moving in the right direction, while 48 percent of Latvian citizens and 39 percent of Europeans believe that things in the United States are moving in the wrong direction.

The Eurobarometer 94 survey in Latvia took place from February 12 to March 18, 2021, during which 1,037 Latvian citizens aged 15 and over were surveyed. The survey was conducted in Latvia by the company Kantar.
