TALLINN - Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna believes that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has become nervous, and now is the time to apply maximum pressure.
"Recent steps by Europe, Ukraine, and the United States to develop security guarantees, as well as the events in Venezuela, have made Putin nervous. In response, Russia's air attacks in recent days have left hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians without heat, electricity, and water in the middle of winter. Last night, Russia again used an Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile, doing so provocatively against the Lviv region in western Ukraine, in the immediate vicinity of the European Union and NATO borders," Tsahkna noted.
"This shows that Russia is continuing on its old path in the new year; it does not want peace and is not yet ready to abandon its goal of destroying Ukraine. This means only one thing - to force a change in Russia's course, international political and economic pressure must be maximized and made unbearable," Tsahkna added.
