Tet strengthens export business – launches a strategic partnership in Moldova

  • 2026-01-09

Latvian technology company Tet significantly expanded its export focus in 2025 by starting active operations in Moldova and signing the first commercial agreement between Tet’s OTT brand Backscreen and one of Moldova’s leading telecommunications companies StarNet. At the same time, this deal marks the beginning of broader Latvia–Moldova cooperation in developing resilient IT infrastructure, data centres, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence solutions. Tet’s experience in these areas is particularly important for Moldova, which, as a candidate country for European Union membership, continues its path towards closer integration with the EU.

“Our knowledge and experience in building modern and competitive services in export markets has progressed significantly, so there is a solid basis for cooperation. As a diversified technology company, we have accumulated extensive experience in developing digital services, cybersecurity solutions and IT infrastructure, as well as in implementing EU requirements in the IT field. With this experience, we can help Moldova prepare its digital environment in line with European Union standards. Our goal is to establish resilient cooperation focused on shared growth,” emphasizes Tet Chief Executive Officer Uldis Tatarčuks.

To promote cooperation and export opportunities, Tet took part in the business forum Invest in Moldova 2025 last September, where several productive meetings were held with Moldovan companies and public-sector representatives, outlining cooperation opportunities in both the public and private sectors.

At the end of 2025, the first deal was also concluded between Tet’s brand Backscreen and Moldova’s leading private telecommunications company StarNet.

As Edgars Bondars, Latvia’s Ambassador to Moldova, notes: “The entry and strengthening of Latvian IT companies in Moldova demonstrates both the export capacity of our IT industry and Moldova’s resilience on its path towards the European Union. It is important that in Moldova we demonstrate a unified consortium approach under Team Latvia Digital, offering the necessary ICT solutions. This will soon help us establish a stronger presence across the wider region, especially in the context of Ukraine’s reconstruction.”

Tet is also entering the Moldovan market as part of the Team Latvia Digital consortium, which brings together the strongest participants in Latvia’s IT and ICT sectors. Within the consortium, Latvian companies combine resources and expertise to implement large-scale digital infrastructure projects, strengthen the export capacity of Latvia’s IT sector, and support the European Union’s strategic digital initiatives.

Tet’s international competence is supported by more than 13 years of export experience in the Ukrainian market, where the company provides data centre, cloud and cybersecurity solutions and is one of the country’s largest data centre service providers. This experience demonstrates Tet’s ability to operate in complex, rapidly changing and strategically important markets, while also providing a reliable foundation for further growth in Moldova and the region.
