TALLINN – While on Monday the Environment Agency had forecast temperatures to drop as low as minus 25 degrees for the latter part of the week, the latest prediction indicates that the coldest temperatures in the coming days will be around minus 20 degrees.
On Thursday night, the weather will be cloudy on the islands and the western mainland coast, with snow and blizzards in many areas. Inland, the weather will be partly to variably cloudy with no precipitation, though there may be some ground blizzard. The southeast wind will blow at 4-10 m/s, with gusts up to 14 m/s on the coast, while on the islands and the west coast, it will be 7-13 m/s with gusts up to 19 m/s. Temperatures will range from minus 13 to minus 20 degrees, and from minus 5 to minus 12 on the islands and the west coast. During the day, it will be cloudy on the islands and partly to variably cloudy on the mainland. Snow is expected in many places, subsiding in the evening. There will be blizzards in places. A southeast and south wind will blow at 4-10 m/s, with gusts of 14 m/s on the coast, and 7-12 m/s with gusts up to 17 m/s on the islands and the west coast; the wind will ease in the afternoon. Temperatures will be between minus 8 and minus 14 degrees, in Western Estonia from minus 1 to minus 7 degrees, while on the western coast of the islands, temperatures may locally rise to one degree above zero.
Friday night will be cloudy, with clearing spells in Eastern Estonia. On the islands and the west coast, there will be light snow in places, and also sleet at the beginning of the night. A mainly southerly wind will blow at 2-8 m/s, reaching 4-10 m/s on the coast with gusts of 14 m/s. Temperatures in Western Estonia will be from minus 1 to minus 8 degrees, in the east from minus 9 to minus 15, and as low as minus 20 in Southeastern Estonia. The day will be cloudy with clear spells and no precipitation. A south and southeast wind will blow at 2-8 m/s, 4-10 m/s on the coast with gusts of 14 m/s. Temperatures will be from minus 1 to minus 8 degrees, and from minus 9 to minus 14 degrees in Eastern Estonia.
On Saturday night, it will be cloudy on the islands and partly to variably cloudy on the mainland. The weather will be dry. A south and southeast wind will blow at 2-8 m/s, up to 10 m/s on the coast with gusts of 14 m/s. Temperatures will range from minus 14 to minus 20 degrees, and from minus 6 to minus 13 degrees in Western Estonia. During the day, the weather will be partly to variably cloudy with no precipitation. A southerly wind will blow at 2-8 m/s, with gusts of 13 m/s on the coast. Temperatures will range from minus 7 to minus 13 degrees, and as low as minus 4 degrees in some coastal areas.
