Suharevs wins gold at European Junior Weightlifting Championship for second time

BUCHAREST - Latvian weightlifter Ritvars Suharevs on Thursday triumphed at the European Junior Weightlifting Championship, men's 81 kilogram category, claiming the gold medal for a second time in his career.

Suharevs placed first in both snatch and clean and jerk, lifting 158 kilograms and 190 kilograms respectively, or 348 kilograms in total.

Ihar Lozka (Belarus) placed second with 343 kilograms, while Rafik Harutyunyan (Armenia) was third with 340 kilograms.

As reported, Latvia's Rebeka Koha won the European U-23 Weightlifting Championship in Romania on Monday. In the women's 59-kilogram category, Koha placed first in both snatch and clean and jerk, lifting 100 kilograms in snatch and 119 kilograms in clean and jerk.
