GUEUGNON (France) - Latvia's Kaspars Stupelis and Etienne Bax (Netherlands) secured their world champions' title at the 13th stage of 2019 Sidecarcross World Championship in France's Gueugnon on Sunday.
Stupelis and Bax were crowned world champions in 2015. Back in 2003 and 2004, Stupelis won the championships together with the legendary Dutch rider Daniel Willemsen.
Yesterday, Stupelis and Bax won Race 1 and placed 17th in Race 2.
In the overall standings, Stupelis and Bax are in first place with 562 points, out of reach for Marvin Vanluchene (Belgium) and Ben van den Bogaart (Netherlands) in second place with 508 points. Koen Hermans (Netherlands) and Nicolas Musset (France) are third with 427 points.
The last stage of 2019 Sidecarcross World Championships will take place in Germany's Rudersberg on October 6.
Last year, Stupelis and Bax placed third at the World Championship.
