RIGA - The Society Integration Foundation (SIF) has approved 14 project applications to support activities of diaspora NGOs, the SIF informed LETA.
The project initiatives and activities will be aimed at maintaining ties between people who have emigrated from Latvia and the country, strengthening their national identity and promoting self-organization of the diaspora.
The support for strengthening the diaspora and representing its interests will be provided to associations, foundations and public organizations registered abroad, including the Latvian Community in Athens, Daugavas Vanagi in Germany, Latvian Association in France, Latvian National Association in Canada, 2x2 Foundation, Daugavas Vanagi in Great Britain, European Latvian Youth Association and European Latvian Association.
Support will also be provided to the World Federation of Free Latvians, Latvian Community Association in the United Kingdom, Latvian Diaspora in Brazil and associations Latviesi.com, Economic Cooperation and Investments for Latvia, and Latvians in the World - Museum and Research Center.
The total amount of the supported projects is EUR 179,120. The maximum funding available per project under the program was EUR 15,000.
