Silina to participate in European Council meeting in Brussels

RIGA - From Wednesday to Friday, October 24, Prime Minister Evika Silina (New Unity) will participate in the European Council meeting in Brussels, where the leaders of the European Union (EU) Member States will discuss European security and competitiveness, Anna Udre, adviser to the Prime Minister, told LETA.

High on the agenda of the European Council will be issues related to support for Ukraine through continued coordinated EU political, military and economic assistance. Leaders will also discuss European security and the development of the defense industry.

On boosting Europe's competitiveness, Silina will stress the need to continue to work actively on cutting red tape.

The leaders will also discuss climate and digital issues, migration, the situation in the Middle East and affordable housing in Europe.
