Several youngsters held in Riga for burning Ukraine flag

RIGA - Municipal police in Riga last Friday detained several youngsters for burning Ukraine's national flag, LETA was told at the Riga Municipal Police. 

The officers who were patrolling the city center on the evening of June 24 were alerted to some young people burning flag in Vermane Park. When they arrived at the scene they only met the caller who said that the youngsters had just left the park. 

The suspected perpetrators were soon found and detained near the Freedom Monument. During the questioning, the youngsters admitted to burning the Ukrainian flag and aggressively called it a "rag and the flag of Ukrainian fascists". The youngsters said they wanted to post a video on Tik Tok to gain popularity and read users' hateful comments about Ukraine. 

The flag burners now face a criminal procedure. One of them is a minor.
