RIGA - The Security Police is also keeping close tabs on persons from Latvia fighting on the Ukrainian side of the conflicts in eastern Ukraine.

As LETA found out from the Security Police it is keeping tabs on persons from Latvia fighting for both sides of the conflict.

The Security Police did not reveal any additional commentary on the number of potential fighters from Latvia, their identities or their activities at the moment.

As reported, the Security Police has launched a total of five criminal processes against nine persons who have participated in the conflict in Ukraine and have operated in pro-Kremlin criminal organizations. However, only one, Artjoms Skripniks, has been detained and charged.

Arrest warrants have been issued for the others.
