RIGA - The Russian Voice Against War rally at the Freedom Monument on Saturday demanded an immediate end to the war in Ukraine and the withdrawal of Russian troops.

Representatives of the movement expressed that it does not accept Russia's violent actions in Ukraine, and the robbery and rape taking place there. In their view, European values - democracy, human rights and the rule of law - are the foundation of a dignified life.

"We do not support the existing Russian power and consider its actions criminal. Any propaganda, political or factual support for the aggression of the Kremlin regime is considered participation in the crimes," the movement said.

They also note that they respect and value Latvia's independence, law, culture and state language. The rally at the Freedom Monument also is taking place in both the Latvian and Russian languages.

The rally at the monument was opened with the anthems of Latvia and Ukraine.

Several hundred people are participating in the event. Some of them are holding the Latvian, the white-red-white flag of Belarus, and the Ukrainian flags, LETA observed.
