TALLINN – The Russian rescue vessel Spasatel Karev began maintenance and repair work on the communication cable between the Leningrad and Kaliningrad regions of Russia in the Gulf of Finland, which is why the Estonian Navy is monitoring the vessel's activities.
Since the task of the Estonian Navy is to create situational awareness in Estonian maritime areas, the Estonian Navy's multifunctional pollution response vessel Kindral Kurvits is monitoring the activity and possible impact near our maritime areas, military spokespeople told BNS.
Kindral Kurvits is part of the patrol ship division, which is a tactical-level unit of the Estonian Navy consisting of four ships with the aim of carrying out maritime patrols in the Estonian territorial sea and economic zone.
