RIGA - On April 23 and 24, the European Labour Authority (ELA) and Latvia's State Employment Agency will jointly host a Remigration Seminar on remigration and return of young people to Latvia, Marta Riekstina, a spokeswoman the Vidzeme Planning Region (VPR), informed LETA.

The event will bring together experts, policymakers and professionals from several European countries to share experience and seek effective remigration solutions.

The event's two-day program will include presentations, discussions and practical working sessions where participants will analyze the current situation, develop proposals to reach out to and support young people and strengthen inter-institutional cooperation.

Particular attention will be paid to Latvia's experience. The event will be attended by Inga Madzule, remigration coordinator of the VPR, who will share up-to-date information on remigration to Latvia in 2025. Her involvement highlights the importance of the regional level in implementing the remigration policy and providing practical support to diaspora members considering a return to Latvia.

The event will also bring together representatives from the ELA, Latvian ministries, the academic sector, as well as experts from Ireland, Croatia, Romania and Lithuania. Discussions will focus on policy instruments as well as concrete examples and success stories from people who have already returned to Latvia.

The second day of the event will focus on new information channels and practical support tools, including the forthcoming launch of Latvia's new remigration platform www.remigracija.lv in June this year, and the opportunities offered by EURES for young professionals.

The aim of the event is to strengthen cooperation between stakeholders and promote a more effective support system so that more young people choose to return and build their future in Latvia.
