Riga Airport Receives 2025 ASQ Customer Experience Award

RIX Riga Airport has been named the “Best Airport at Departures” by the Airports Council International (ACI) in the category for European airports serving between 5 and 15 million passengers per year. The award affirms that Riga Airport consistently delivers a reliable, high-quality travel experience, even in an increasingly competitive environment. 

“This is a significant achievement for all service providers at Riga Airport – from check-in agents and security officers to everyone serving passengers throughout the terminal. We are especially proud that this recognition comes directly from passengers – the very people whose comfort and safety we strive to ensure every day. The survey results show that passengers value the safe, clear and seamless travel experience we provide, from arrival at the airport to the boarding gate. We will continue to develop our services, environment, and infrastructure so that every traveller feels welcome at Riga Airport and every journey from Riga begins safely and comfortably,” says Laila Odiņa, Chairperson of the Board of Riga Airport. 

Passenger satisfaction surveys conducted regularly over the past year show that Riga Airport’s key strengths closely align with what travellers value most – predictability, ease of navigation, and security. Convenient access to the airport was identified as an important criterion by 42% of departing passengers and received the highest rating of 4.45 out of 5. A fast and straightforward security check, highlighted as a priority by one third of passengers, received a rating of 4.38, while ease of orientation within the airport scored 4.35 points. Border control received a rating of 4.36, while the check-in process, overall atmosphere, and availability of information in the terminal were each rated 4.35.  

Passenger feedback also highlights the airport’s overall emotional environment, described as calm, safe, and predictable – ensuring a smooth travel experience free from unnecessary stress or uncertainty. 

The Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Customer Experience Award, presented by ACI, is among the highest distinctions in the aviation industry. It is based on more than 700,000 real-time passenger surveys conducted at airports worldwide, evaluating the full spectrum of the passenger journey – from arrival at the airport to departure from the boarding gate.
