Rallies in support of both Israel and Palestine to take place in Riga on Friday

RIGA - On Friday, August 1, two events will be held in Riga, one in support of Israel and the other in support of Palestine.

As LETA found out from the Riga City Council, a march from the Dailes Theater to the square in front of the Riga Congress House and a gathering will take place from 6 to 8 pm.

The aim of the event is to protest against Latvia's foreign policy in support of Israel against Palestine. The event has been submitted by a private individual.

The application states that 70 participants will take part in the march.

At the same time, a picket "condemning the genocide and violence of radical Islamists against Jews, Druze and other ethnic and religious minorities in the Middle East" will take place on the pavement in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The event will condemn radical Islamist terror, terrorism and extremist propaganda and support Israel's right to exist and to protect its people.

The event has been submitted by Jewnited.lv and is expected to attract 100 participants.

According to Firmas.lv, the association was founded in July last year.

The Riga Municipal Executive Director has met with the organizers of both events and law enforcement authorities to discuss and remind the organizers of the procedures for organizing the events.
