On September 10, 2015, Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite and Vilnius Archbishop Gintaras Grusas met a refugee family from Iraq.

Three Christian families from Iraq, 15 people in total, arrived in Lithuania in July this year, and are now being helped by Vilnius Archdiocese's Caritas charity.

On September 9, the European Commission suggested Lithuania take an additional 780 refugees affected by the refugee crisis in the Mediterranean, who are now in Hungary, Greece and Italy.

Earlier this year, Lithuania agreed to accept a quota 325 refugees.
