TALLINN - Estonian President Alar Karis bestowed in Kadriorg the Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana, 4th Class, on Jan Erik Holst, long-time presenter of Estonian cinema in Norway and chief organizer of the Baltic Film Days in Oslo, for promoting cultural relations between Estonia and Norway.
"Estonia appreciates the commitment of Jan Erik Holst and his work in promoting Estonian culture as well as his contribution to our cultural cooperation with Norway," Karis said at the ceremony.
Holst is also one of the founders of the Tallinn Dark Nights Film Festival (POFF). He has donated his library and film collection to Tallinn University.
The decision to award Holst the national decoration was made by the president in February this year.
