From 7 April to 5 May, the shopping and entertainment centre AKROPOLE Rīga will transform into a breathtaking space observatory, offering visitors a unique opportunity to see the large-scale planetary installation Cosmos. Created by the talented environmental stylist Baiba Prindule-Rence, the installation features 12 spectacular ceiling-mounted and illuminated planets – with the largest planet measuring up to five metres in diameter. To allow visitors to fully experience the feeling of space, a special seating area has been created beneath the planets, from which everyone can gaze into the “sky”.
“We are very pleased to present this space installation to the public, which will decorate the shopping centre’s event area for the entire month. Our goal is not only to create a shopping environment that meets today’s aesthetic requirements but also to inspire. The new installation will encourage visitors to think about the world and the universe on a larger scale and to delve into the mysteries of space. In addition, this space installation is also a symbol of our shopping centre as a place where everyone can find something new and entertaining. I hope that visitors will not only enjoy this artistic project but also reflect on the potential of humanity and allow themselves to dream new dreams and set new goals,” says Kaspars Beitiņš, CEO of SIA Akropole Latvija.
“Cosmos is not just a physical dimension – it is a metaphor for our self-awareness and inner world. This installation is my tribute to the infinite beauty and mystery of space. This is an attempt to create an experience that allows visitors of the shopping centre to step out of their everyday lives for a moment to experience something incomprehensibly large and profound. All sizes, dimensions and perceptions in life are relative. Everything can only be measured by our personal experience. So I invite everyone to dream, think and live so big that the universe around you becomes small,” says Baiba Prindule-Rence, environmental stylist and owner of the design store SVINAM.
The installation Cosmos can be seen in the event area of AKROPOLE Rīga between entrances A and F. Come and enjoy the journey into space!
